Screening Room

Screening Room
12 Ann Siang Rd
Singapore 069692

Film lovers and movie buffs rejoice!
No more just popcorn and coke while catching a movie on screen
With the new concept introduced
where food meets film and vice-versa

In Screening Room
this five-storey building explores the fine cuisines of the great Mediterranean juxtaposed with different themes of films shown during dining periods
*FYI
they screens mainly french movies
do check out their timing n the movies screening at the moment to prevent disappointment
=)

Like its name suggests
the marriage between food and films takes one's dining experience to the next level
there is always more to indulge in than a box of caramel popcorn
In addition, the rooftop bar
as well as their basement bar at Screening Room
adds another collection to the series of rooftop bars all over office buildings in Singapore.

Each level takes on unique identities yet bearing the similar concept of film and dine, at the same time
At the basement, a bar countertop with two wall-mounted screens overlook a cosy gathering of sofas and cushions
Adjourn upwards to the bistro restaurant
a casual dining environment with hints of spring in its interior decor
Large mirrors create an illusion of an open environment as one indulges in a hearty fare from the ala carte menu
Further up the levels include a private screening room dressed with plush sofas
lounge-chairs and armchairs of all designs
as well as a rooftop bar overlooking the bright lights of Chinatown area

i totally dig the wall paper of this place
and am coming up with new ideas to revamp my room
i am seriously considering about changing the boring layout n design of my room
=)
but was told that wallpapers dont work so well in our climate
and aint easy to find
but i'm not giving up so easily =D

for the smokers and those who prefers the breezy
relaxed atmosphere
rooftop bar will be the place that caters to their needs

while for those who prefers a darker, cosier hideout
you might want to opt for the basement
which is where we guys went
=)

One is allowed to roam the floors as one pleases
but of course the sight of starry nights and casual wooden furnishings never fail to entice guests up the staircase
Otherwise, there is always the journey underground
Screening Room has another basement bar featuring over 50 labels of premium whisky for the adventurous

not to forget
even the ladies are nicely designed
the above pictures were exactly the location i was talking about
lol

this was a belated birthday treat for miss OL aka cindy
=)
yang came up with this venue
which serves medditerrean food
that adds on to my list of places for medditerrean food
besides the one at sentosa!

  • Duck Fat Potato cake roasted and deep friend potato cake with rosemary, thyme and duck fat ($8)

sorry to say
but i totally dont like this!
i cant stand the smell, nor the taste of rosemary la
tried to eat just the potato
but gave up soon after
lol
but well, at least i know tt's how it taste like
hahahahaha
but the other OL(s) enjoyed this dish though

  • Mushroom spring rolls - shitake and chinese mushroom filled pastries with fermented black bean chilli sauce ($8)

the fermented black bean chilli sauce in fact taste rather unique
one of those food that one dont get to eat often elsewhere
thumbs up for the creation
=)

  • Wagyu burger with bacon, smoked cheddar cheese and tomato Australian marbling grade 8/9 on a sesame seed bun ($24)

Yang kind of regret bringing me to this place
mainly because missus has nothing much to eat
as this place serves a wide variety of beef, lamb, salmon
which i do not enjoy
no comments on this dish
as i didnt not touch a single bit of it
hahaahaha

we also ordered this fries ($8)
with a "special" seasoning
totally reminds me of mcdonald's shaker fries
teeheehee

  • Screening room sliders platter - four mini burgers of cod, chicken, lamg, and waygu beef ($24)

i must say this dish is so cute la
like the description
it comes in four mini burgers
so tiny can!
i bet it cant fill one's stomach
but one can have a range of food from just ordering one such dish

  • Roast cod ($33)

after staring at the menu for real long
i ordered this because there seems to be nothing much i can ordered
thumbs up for the roast cod
it was slightly flavoured with just salt
n one can still taste the juice of the cod
perfect =)
but i didnt touch the spinach n the gravy
it taste a lil like rosemary n peppermint
eeeeee
hahahaahaha

  • Molten center chocolate cake with valehona bittersweet chocolate ($16)

cakes like this never goes wrong
unless it's too dry on the outside
but it can be salvage usually with the melting ice cream
but
this was very well done
bittersweet chocolate
i heart!
=D

the workaholic who stayed in office once till 330am in the morning
i guess the recession must have gave him more work
more stuffs to do with the union

the 3 Office working people
=)

afterwhich
we walked around ann siang
and landed in scarlett hotel
which looks so pretty can
it's like those barbie doll house
lol

standing for 10 hours a day really killed my legs

haji lane on wednesday

met my sharon darling on wednesday (19/11/08) for some shopping and catching up
headed to haji lane first
there's this very pretty shop
that has nutcracker!
so nice isnt it
not to forgo
the shop has this nice n cosy feeling
=)

n how could i resist taking pictures with such a lovely thing!
there were actually a couple of nutcrackers placed in the whole shop
=D

sharon n her falsie
=)

we didnt managed to satisfy the shopping craving
so we headed to bugis street at 900pm
haha
knowing that most of the shops should be closing soon
sharon got herself a very unique yellow top n a jumpsuit
whereas i got myself a white long shorts
*noticed it is called long shorts*
because it rather long, half of my tighs
but if u know me
i dont really wear such long shorts la
hahaha
but
it's pretty
with pleats detailings in the front
n
i got a high waist skirt
which i think is total impulse
since i dont even have to wear office wear to office can~

we were so immerse with talking n catching up that we totally forgot about the time
hahaha
cos we actually went over to ah chew dessert place to get desserts for our family
n darly was sms-ing me asking if i'm heading home soon
so i replied saying that we'll catch the last train after getting the desserts
*w/o checking what time is it*
thank god to daryl who actually reminded me saying that there's prolly no last train
n we checked out watch to realised it was already past 12 midnight
lol
good time sure passes very fast
=)

*p.s i want more of such meet-ups please =D

Japanese food - Nirai-Kanai

19 Tanglin Road
#04-05
Tanglin Shopping Centre

Operating Hours:
Mon-Sat: 11.30am - 4.30pm
Sun-Thu: 6pm - 12am
Fri-Sat: 6pm - 2am

went there on the 15th of this month
i was like so free on a saturday after work
so i went home to make konniyaku jellies
hahahaha
thereafter
headed to amk hub to watch quantum of solace
which i think wasnt as fantastic i the review though

richard came over to pick me up
n like i've mentioned earlier on
as i'm wearing shorts n flip flops
hahaha
he decided to go to this place at tanglin for dinner
n partly because we only met ard 830
it's pretty hard to find a place that opens past 10pm for dinner

i must say i was pretty impressed when i first stepped in
this places oozes Japanese culture
from the friendly welcome greetings from all the staff
to rustic wooden furniture
to the Japanese posters and scrolls
which plaster the wood-paneled walls

There is a main dining area
counter/bar-style dining
and a smoking section available

For some privacy and added authenticity
u can request for the Tatami rooms
which are individual rooms with traditional-style floor level seating

this taste pretty like "harden" bread
it's the harder kind that taste a lil sweet as a whole
not those where your teeth just sunk into the food

a very simple but we both love how it taste like
n i'm so determined to make it myself one day
especially when now i actually enjoys lettuces
n i know how this taste like
i think i can make up how this dish is made
=)
like the name suggest
"taco" rice
it taste really like dishes with the "taco" taste
adding minced beef to flavour up the dish
n lettuces to add on the layers of the food

cold noodle
u can opt for either the soya base or the sesame
richard opt for the sesame ones as he says he's always eating the soya one
but i guess the soya one tasted better
the noodles were super chewy
topped with grilled pork
yum yum
=)

i was quite hesitate about ordering this
cos i dont like to taste bloody beef
hahaha
n this was named "cubic"
so i was thinking
that it prolly will have that bloody taste
but
i'm wrong
i bet this is one of the only places
that i actually dares to take beef, not in thin slices
it is so chewy
so well marinated
cooked at a very well controlled fire
thumbs up

*denise strongly recommend this*
=D

this places does not have a very wide variety of food to choose from
if u dont take food like beef, n salmon
hahahaha
(which is me. lol)
thus in order to accomodate me
we ordered something that missus eats
hahahahaha
this dish is well handled
as it's crisp on the outside
juicy on the inside
(but of cos, not as oily as K*C)
hahahaha

we didnt ordered alot
but we were so full
because we wanted to have hagaan daz while walking ard town
but were too full
so we randomly drove around
enjoy the good weather and the breeze
n landed up n changi airport can!!!
hahahaha

not satisfied that we didnt have our ice cream
n only airport has places to satisfy out cravings at 12 midnight
lol
we ended up there
changi airport was filled with disney characters la
we were greeted at the entrance with mickey n minnie mouse
wanted to take a photo of it
but because we not sationary
i didnt have a change too
bohoo~

thus the night ended well
with us feeling so satisfied with the ice cream
that we didnt realise the tram ended at 200am
so we walked all the way from t2 to t1
(as he parked his car there)
how cool~

one thing i enjoyed hanging out with this friend of mine is we both love a wide range of music
like he likes japanese piano too
so i'll tell him of the composers that i know whom i played their pieces n think it's good
n he'll recommend them
which explains how i can reach my hse downstairs ard 3
n eventually went home at 430
hahahah

sunday after class
cindy, yand n i went for ice cube at thomson
i think they shld seriously considered giving me some membership la
i'm going there at least once in a week or 2 times in a week la
until i think the waiter knows me le
-_________-"

the lovely red heart cushion n the lovely red bag
=)
i wan to go ikea la
i so wan to re-paint my room
n look for a big heart cushion!!!
lol

cheesy fries
sinful
but can never go wrong

yang's waffle with "strawberry" ice cream
i dont like strawberry ice cream la
but i love the products of strawverries
super contradicting
but i guess it's not just me who's like that right
lol

wedges
i totaly dig their wedges la
if only they serves cheesy wedges
wahahaha

i think their main course are so bohoo~
miss OL n i prolly will not eat their main course here again
but willl always come here for the desserts
lol

yang's very pretty cufflings
wahahaha
so cute can
it's like we always see guys wearing the either branding ones or the typical shapes one
but this is like so effing duh, but cute la
hahaha

anyway
happy 20th birthday to my dearest sister CHUYUN
and
happy 25th birthday YANG

the november 29th babies
=)

Dian Xiao Er

had Dian Xiao Er at amk hub with my family n my smallest uncle
=)

mummy ordered two kinds of soup that day
this is the melon soup
they serves soup by per head
meaning per customer
i'm not too sure if they serves in larger servings though

the cereal prawns
talking about that
i totally heart my younger sister
despite the fact that she always *BULLY* me
hahaaha
she can be such a sweetie at times
mummy n i are the last few people to lay our hands on the prawns
sharing the same thoughts of not wanting to use our own hands
then my DEAREST SISTER actually peeled the prawns for me n mummy
w/o us even asking for it
=D
i believe that's the reason why i dote on her alot too
=)

long beans with shrimps
pretty normal
i think long beans taste pretty 'old' compared to french beans

kangkong with sambal
this is like a voted by all the children (us)
hahaha
but i felt the ones at thai accent is better
as this one aint that spicy
despite the fact that i cant really take spicy food
but kangkong with sambal chili is like
not spicy not nice what.
lol

beancurd

i have no idea what do u call this in english
but it's freaking nice
layers of fats to be put into the mouth together with the meat
sounds a lil gross
but that's e way to enjoy the food
=)

went out to queensway shopping center on one random friday
and had dinner at the coffee shop
there was this stall
[MR AVOCADO]
*which apparently was pretty famous with the newspaper cuttings pasted over the stall*
that serves avocado juice
i aint no fan of that
n wanted to opt for something simpler
but then
i was introduced to this strawberry with soursop
n i totally fall in love with it
=)

miss *mynameishazel* is already nagging at me for her udates
but i'm so tied up at work that i'm already working OT for almost the whole week already la
=(
i havent been pampering myself these days la~
all these are so back dated
boo~

miss *jeanjean* is back from her trip too!
n she is oh-so-lovely to get me something
*wink*
wanted to meet her for dinner soon
but i've got 2 belated birthday dinners for my dearest sis n yang next week
thus we can only meet up the week after next oh!

p.s *i'll be working at SITEX (again) this year
this time for HP
just like the previous IT show
=)
but that means i'm burning my weekends at expo
n i'm missing my ballet on sunday
=(
