Chijmes on 270108

chijmes on sunday

Dinner at chijmes with theodore

it has the very traditional japanese restaurant outlook. totally different from what i expected it to be.

to start off, we i ordered sushi because mr theodore has a mouth as strict as the custom, so he does not eat everything tat i ordered. but that does not stop me from ordering my cravings!

cha soba, food whereby any japanese restaurant are able to produce. nothing special, just that i have the cravings for soba

tempura, how can anyone resist this! anyone from the tender age of 3 till 100 will like this la! (okay, i know this sounds too exaggerating, oh ya, to leave out the vegetarians also la!) The prawns were very fresh despite the were deep fried.

the best dish of the night. scallops in teppan-yaki style. fried garlics were served together with the scallops. i used to totally heart the ones served at tcc, seafood aglio olio, but i must say, this is not as thick as the ones served at tcc, but they were cooked at the correct temperature, with the correct timing. sauce was lovely, not too salty, yet does not taste of just oyster sauce and nothing else.

i do not pay attention to things i dont like. like this dish. i know it's beef. that's all. dont ask me what's the name, how it taste. cause i cannot comment, as i did not try it, and do not wish to try it, although Theodore says it was very very good. *shrugs

went for my porridge at old airport road on monday. it's damn nice la! well, nice if u like those porridge that u can barely see the grains. yes, say i do not know how to appreciate teochew style! haha!

Fruitful Saturday

ballet was intense, but i love it!

met lionel for dinner at fish n co, amk hub

the view was lovely, it looks like busy lil amk hub =)

and do u know, for every crayfish pasta u ordered, fish n co  will donate $1 to some charity organisation (sorry ar, i cant remember which foundation it was)

due to joycey's influence, i'm so addicted to mushroom soup la, i wan to try all the mushroom soup of every single place that serves that la! hahahaha

we decided to share the crayfish pasta and seafood platter for one! (in my opinion, the seafood platter for one is much more than 1 person's share la!)

if u think tt's all, it's so wrong, we both ordered drinks as big as elephant! (okay, i was just trying to say how large the drinks were la!)

(my drink - mermaid freeze)

lionel's drink - i think it was jungle freeze

headed home after dinner. slept for an hour, but it makes me even sleepier! met up my darlings and their bfs at amk hub for movie. movie was rather so-so, but what was heartwarming was, for the first time, we finally watched a movie together =)

lovely place, with lovely fusion of food. For appetizers, we were served spring rolls and chicken with onions and capsicum wrapped with prata. it was good, the spring roll were fantastic =) despite the fact that i do not like onions and capsicum, i must say, the chicken was prepared in such a way that i cannot taste the veggies, and it was lovely as u can taste the crunch on the onions and capsicum when wrapped with prata!

we were then served mussels and prawns in white wine. from what melvin says, the white wine was good, so are the mussels, but i aint no fan of such food, so i took the prawns only. the prawns were cooked in white wine, so i can taste the white wine sauce.

then we were served with the main course. dory fish with tom yum. i was expecting not to like the sauce as tom yum in my memory, was too sour n spicy. being a fish lover, i love the way the fish was prepared. no bones, no fishy smell. lovely! the tom yum sauce was fantastic, a lil tint of soury, not spicy at all. u can tell it's tom yum, but not they typical taste of tom yum we usually taste outside. 9/10 points!

had a lovely drink named red rhapsody, i suppose the name of the drink came from the name of the place. it taste a lil fruitty, light, aint bitter. was a good drink to have while eating such food!

we both had our own dessert. melvin took some stuffs which i cannot remember the ingredients of his dessert. all i can remember was it was topped with coconut (which i decided not to have it, as i dont like shreds of coconuts!) it is unlike the normal dessert which we usually eat. it was like bread, dipped in some sort of sauce, 'wrapped' up.

and as usual, i had chocolate. chocolate truffle cake, warmed, served with vanilla ice cream!

headed down to eski bar @ holland Village (apologise for the resolution of the pics, as i did not use flash there!)

i think it's pretty obvious to know who took which drink right?

only now then i realised it's not the whoe eski bar that is freezing. the whole eski bar was separated into two parts. the area that we went are of the normal temperature, while there was another glass door, which separates the icy freezing room and the 'normal' room. well, as i'm in the mood to get freezed, i did not enter the other legendary room though.

tt's all folks on a friday night after work!
